Residents of Marsabit appeal for help as drought persists
Persistent drought has ravaged the Northern county of Marsabit for years now, forcing many
residents to be fully dependent on humanitarian aid. The county has experienced four consecutive
failed rain seasons with a fifth failed rain season imminent according to IGAD’s Climate
Prediction and Application Centre.

The patterns of drought in Marsabit County have been changing drastically
over the last decade. Due to to its arid climate, Marsabit experiences droughts
frequently With more occurrences aggravated by environmental degradation.
In North horr Constituency, a place known as El-Isako Mala lives the
communities whose survival remains compromised, by the effects of the
hunger crisis.
