Pastoralist and agro-pastoralist families in Marsabit depend on land, livestock, water and local markets. Climate pressures, degraded rangelands and limited economic opportunities can undermine household income and food security. Caritas Marsabit supports communities to strengthen the resources, knowledge and opportunities on which their livelihoods depend.
What we do
Food and fodder production
Support locally appropriate farming, irrigation, crop diversification and fodder production to strengthen household and livestock food supplies.
Livestock and rangelands
Promote livestock-related skills, pasture management and restoration practices that support pastoralist livelihoods.
Savings and enterprise
Strengthen savings groups, financial knowledge and small enterprise opportunities, including the participation of women and young people.
Skills and market connections
Support practical training, collective learning and links to markets so that producers can build on local opportunities.
How we work
We work with community groups to identify priorities and build on existing skills. Demonstration, practical training and peer learning help participants assess and adopt suitable practices. Programme activities connect production with savings, markets and the responsible management of natural resources.
Connecting our work
A reliable livelihood depends on more than production alone. Safe water, functioning markets, healthy families and peaceful access to shared resources all matter. Our work brings these connections into programme planning and community engagement.
